Aloha, I am currently in Paris, but wanted to get in touch and let you all know about a very exciting opportunity. I have paired up (get it?) with the wonderful folks from Turley Vineyards to offer what will certainly be the food and wine event of the season.

The last time we partnered with Larry Turley and his team was way back when for Hāli‘imaile General Store’s 15th anniversary and folks are still talking about that event! Turley wines are Joe’s favorite, so we are all very excited for this very special occasion.

On November 18 we are having one of our wonderful wine dinners and will be hosting it at Gannon’s on Maui’s South Shore in Wailea. I love wine dinners because the process of creating the menu is such an imaginative practice and they get me out of my comfort zone a little, which is always welcomed! These dinners also give me an opportunity to work outside of the menus offered in my restaurants and to utilize ingredients I may not use everyday.

This time around, I’ve involved my entire culinary team in the development of the menu utilizing the talents, ideas and ingenuity of the Chefs from Hāli‘imaile General Store, Gannon’s, Joe’s and Celebrations Catering. Of course my General Manager, Rebecca Schillaci will be on hand to work her magic in the front of the house that evening, so we are certain to offer a flawless event of fine wines and to-die-for food! The menu is not completely set but I will be getting my hands on some Snake River Farms Wagyu Rib Eyes Steaks that I know will blow your taste buds out the back of your head! The meal will be somewhat hearty, but certainly well balanced and delightful in concert with the wines.

Speaking of the wines…please know that not only will you never see a few of the 6 wines offered this evening generally released to the public, but you will certainly not see all of them offered in Hawai‘i again! My team and I tried these wines and let me tell you, they are FABULOUS!!!!!!! Tentatively, we are designing the evening around these fantastic wines, though there’s always the chance of a slight change:

· 1996 Black Sears Zinfandel
· 2006 Dragon Vineyard Zinfandel
